Ujjain: Four persons were arrested for murdering a 70-year-old man in Sanklikheda village couple of days back. Accused Rai Singh, Mukesh, Sonu, and Hakam, all resident of same village were taken under police custody. Rai Singh is brother-in-law of deceased’s son Motiram. Raisingh killed Sewaram as he needed money to pay off debts incurred by his lavish life. He roped in his colleagues to help him execute the plan.

They knew that deceased used to keep cash under his pillow of his bedding. Accused Rai Singh noticed this during his stay at Motiram’s house. On the night of the murder, he knew there is good amount of money under the pillow and decided to execute his plan.

When police started questioning family members about any lost, Raisingh’s statements appeared to be contradictory on where he was on night of murder. Questioning further, he broke down and confessed the crime. Mukesh, Sonu and Hakam were arrested from their residences at the behest of Rai Singh. Police said accused persons were charged with murder and robbery, while two others are still absconding.
