350 bags of fake bleaching powder recovered from UMC godown

Ujjain :  At least 350 bags of fake bleaching powder were recovered from the godown located at the basement of Shivaji Bhavan, the headquarters of Ujjain Municipal Corporation (UMC), here on Wednesday.

BJP corporators raided the godown after they got to know about the irregularities practiced by Health Officer (HO) Dr Rajesh Kothari in purchase of goods. Corporators filed a complaint against corrupt HO before State government and demanded his removal.

BJP corporator Jagdish Panchal informed Free Press that a team of corporators including Satyanarayan Chauhan and others raided the godown of UMC located at Shivaji Bhavan on Wednesday. They found 350 bags of fake bleaching powder carrying the label of Grasim. The bags did not show the date of manufacturing and expiry, quantity and other necessary details. Corporators immediately called marketing officer of Grasim, Sachin Goyal who informed that they do not sell bleaching powder to UMC. Lime powder was scattered around the godown.

Earlier, HO Dr Kothari told corporators for unavailability of the stock of bleaching powder in the godown for last one month. HO Dr Kothari has been causing financial loss to UMC by practicing irregularities in purchase of goods. UMC Deputy Commissioner RP Shrivastava was accompanied with corporators. BJP corporators will file a complaint against HO Dr Kothari before Lok Ayukta. They have faxed a letter of complaint to Chief Minister. Panchal also informed that HO has embezzled huge sum of amount in purchase of stock. A complaint was filed against him at Indore Lok Ayukta.
