The Talaiya police on Saturday registered an attempt to murder case against more than a dozen unidentified persons in connection with the firing at a youth Saad Umar, 22, on Wednesday night at Itwara.


p> The police had also registered of case of rioting against them.

Saad was shot in his arm, when he peeped out of his house on hearing the noise, his family members informed.

Earlier it was claimed that Saad was injured in police firing. However, the police had registered a case against a group of persons who reportedly pelted stones and fired shots with country made pistols in Islampura area near Bajrang Mandir.

The Talaiya police had already sent eleven persons to jail on Friday, on the charges of loot, arson and attempt to murder. The police had also registered a case against around 600 unidentified persons in connection with the violence in Itwara area on Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, the Rakshabandhan was celebrated with enthusiasm in Itwara area. The atmosphere was tense but people did not hesitate in going to their relatives house for tying the bond of love.

ASP Santosh Singh Gaur said around 500 strong police personnel, including RAF were camping in the area to avoid any untoward incident.

The police are also cautious, keeping in view the Independence Day celebration.
