Ujjain : A temporary township spanning in 100 hectares is underway in the city for accommodating tourists during the upcoming Simhastha-2016.
The Simhastha Fair Authority (SFA) and the government had been planning for the township lately, but now the plan has finalized and soon the tenders will be floated by the SFA. The proposed location for the township was chosen near the Kshipra banks on the opposite side of the Garhkalika temple, near Sadawal Road. The township will be erected on temporary measures and will be removed after the Simhastha. SFA is expecting around 5 crore pilgrims during the Simhastha and with that huge crowd the hotels, lodges, camps, dharamshalas and other residing places will prove scant for accommodation of the crowds during the peak days, such as Shahi Snana and other religious Parva Snanas.
Deputy Fair Officer SS Rawat told Free Press that the township is being developed with a focus to accommodate the middle class, however anybody desiring would be able to stay in them he said. Rawat says, for an example if 15 lakh pilgrims visit the city on any single day, then the accommodation places will be outnumbered and there will be a crisis, to avoid such condition the township will is being planned. Not only the pilgrims will be given accommodation facility, but kitchens and parking will also be made available. The rooms or cottages will be fairly priced, and will have all basic amenities including, water, electricity and sanitation Rawat added.
The SFA will provide the willing companies the land on rate of Rs 50,000 per hectare and the land will be given in chunks of 2.5, 5 and 10 hectares. The companies will erected cottages, huts, camps or pre furnished small houses at the township for the pilgrims. The number of cottages or rooms is yet to be decided, but 100 hectares of space is certainly going to accommodate thousands. The land piece was already reserved for the commercial activities. The SFA will provide the desiring companies single point electricity, water and sewage supply connections, which will be used as per need by the service providers.
