As the scorching heat of summer gives us a farewell the sky turns grey to welcome the blissful showers of rain to cool the arena. Monsoon in India allows you to explore places with gushing waterfalls, lush green vegetation that will soothe your senses. A fresh breezy climate that will set the mood for an adventure. But things can get ugly if proper care is not taken. We have clubbed the essentials you need to keep handy while travelling in monsoon.

It’s pretty obvious you will need to protect yourself first from the showers and stay dry unless you have plans to get drenched. Umbrella, Rubber Shoes, Raincoats, are your primary essentials and to keep them all safe a waterproof bag. Wear light weight clothes so that they can dry faster if at all you get caught in the rain.

A few more things you will need while travelling which will help you survive. Bug spray if you are on a trek to keep mosquitoes and bugs at bay. It is very much important to carry your own food and water. Make sure you carry eatables in an air tight container. Keep a mini first aid kit in your bag which includes Band-Aids, antiseptic, digestive tablets, to protect yourself from getting hurt or feel sick while travelling. The weather gets humid, so carry tissues and clean towels to stay fresh. Keep you electronics and gadgets in a plastic bag.

Always use public transport because it is cheap and safe to travel with more people rather than travelling alone. If the streets are flooded avoid stepping out as there are manholes which can pull you down the drain. Heavy rainfall can cause a halt of transport due to water logging and things can get out of hand too but you need not panic. Try to get onto a dry spot till the showers slow down.
