In literal terms Hubli means “Flowering Creeper” in Kannada. Hubli and Dharwad are two different cities which are quite alike or can also be called twin cities. It is the second largest urban destination in Karnataka after Bengaluru. The city is a commercial hub with its extensive trade of cotton and iron and is also known for its hand loom textiles.
The city has a great amount of historical influence as it has been a centre of arts and literature since 12th Century AD. Hubli has an amazing artistic touch which can be observed through its ancient temples. It is also famous for its several Sufi dargahs.
In order to reach you can take flights to Hubli Airport. Being the headquarters for south western railway zone; Hubli is well connected by Indian Rail network.
It is a 900 year old temple which was built during the Chalukyas reign. It is worshipped in the name of Chandramouleshwara, another name for Lord Shiva. It is carved and sculptured in an artistic manner out of black granite and showcases the extraordinary skills of the Chalukya era artisans.

The temple was built by the Chalukyas in the 13th Century. This is again a masterpiece of the Chalukya period. The temple is currently undergoing a restoration process.

If you are a nature lover and a fan of bird watching, you can’t miss Nrupatunga Betta. A variety of bird species can be observed here. It is located in the Unakal Hill and is considered as a famous picnic spot in Hubli. If you are looking for some space with solitude, away from the hustle of the city life, you can definitely head to this place to get one with nature. The best time to visit this place is from October to January.

This is one of the major pilgrim destinations for devotes of the Jain community in India. The specialty of this temple is a 61 foot tall idol of the Shri 1008 Bhagavan Parshvanath and the smaller statues of the other 8 Jain teerthankaras. It is a perfect spiritual place to experience divinity while you’re at Hubli.

The beautifully landscaped garden is maintained by the municipality. It has a central glass house built and is a popular venue for social gatherings, cultural events, concerts and exhibitions.

The lake is a serene clear water beauty which spreads across 200 acres making it a perfect picnic spot for tourists. The lake is surrounded by lush greenery which will soothe your senses. The lake is around 110 years old and has the statue of Swami Vivekananda at the centre of the lake. It also provides boating facility and other water sports to take part in.

A monastery which was built by the followers of Sri Siddharoodha Swami. It is a popular tourist destination where many devotees come throughout the year. The Car Festival is celebrated every year on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri.
