London : Sony Pictures’ co-chair Amy Pascal has reportedly resigned from the post after a cyber attack on the Hollywood studio revealed her private emails. Pascal is set to start a new production company that will launch in May 2015, reported the BBC. The treasure trove of confidential correspondences and data leaked during the “vicious” hack attack revealed a slew of racially-charged messages exchanged between Producer Scott Rudin and Pascal targeting President Barack Obama.

Pascal had apologized for the revelations. She said in a statement that she was “energized” to start “a new chapter” after having spent almost her “entire” professional life at Sony Pictures. Pascal added that her transition to a production role had been on cards “for some time.”
