Actress and Bigg Boss OTT fame Urfi Javed reacted to reports stating that Lucknow might be renamed as Laxmanpuri on Thursday. She asked what is the point in renaming the city and said she wants to stay in a 'democratic rashtra'.
On Twitter, Urfi shared a screenshot of a news article with the headline 'Lucknow to be renamed as Laxmanpuri soon? Yogi Adityanath's tweet sparks debate' and wrote, "Faida batao koi Iska ? I want to stay In a democratic rashtra ! Neither Hindu rashtra nor muslim rashtra."
In another tweet, the actress clarified she does not follow Islam or any other religion.
"Before the Hindu extremists start attacking me let me tell y’all , I do not follow Islam or any religion as a matter of fact . I just don’t want people to fight because of their religion," she tweeted.
Urfi was born and brought up in Lucknow. She currently lives in Mumbai. She is quite active on social media and often voices her opinion on various issues. Urfi is also known for her bold fashion choices.
Urfi hits back at Kangana, says 'art should not be divided by religion'
A few days back, she hit back at Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut and said that art should not be divided by religion. For those unversed, Kangana recently said that India is biased towards Khans and Muslim actors.
Urfi reacted to it and tweeted, "Oh my gosh! What is this division, Muslim actors, Hindu actors. Art is not divided by religion. There are only actors."
