Mumbai : About 600 players from across the country are showcasing their talents in various forms of malkhamb on the Madhav Seva Nyas premises, adjacent to Mahakaleshwar Temple here. They have arrived here to participate in the three-day National Malkhamb Championships, being organised to commemorate 200 years of this sports.
Young players are taking malkhamb as a main sporting event and are very positive towards making career in the discipline. On the second day of the event on Sunday, the Free Press team talked to some young players about how they saw the future of malkhamb. Earlier, A Grand procession marked beginning of 33rd National Malkhamb Championships on Saturday. 600 acrobats from 29 states to display feat on wooden pole, rope. The competition has been jointly organised by the MP Malkhamb Association, Madhav Sewa Nyas, Sports and Youth Welfare Department and Ujjain municipal corporation.
The guests in their addresses threw light on the significance of Malkhmab as sports and said that this traditional sport develops the physical as well as mental strength of the students.
