Mumbai: Western Railway notched up a convincing 4-1 win against Maharashtra State Police in an Elite Division match of the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) League, played at the Western Railway ground, Mahalaxmi, on Monday evening.

Showing good understanding and combing well as an unit, Western dictated term from the outset. Both teams made a couple of attempts at either end before Western finally found opener when Som P.T. hit the target in the 34th minute. Six minutes later Ravikant Naidu added the second as the railmen went into the break with a 2-0 cushion.

On resumption the policemen who fought on gamely reduced the margin through Muttlaiya Gawali in the 50th minute. But in the very next minute Reuben D’Souza struck the third goal to restore Western’s 2-0 advantage, before new recruit Clayton D’Souza netted the fourth goal in the 83rd minute to complete the win.Meanwhile, Willingdon Catholic Gymkhana defeated Rhema SF 1-0.
