Mumbai: West Zone United proved too strong for Theresaians Vidya Vikasani as they stormed to a fluent 9-0 win in a First Division match of the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) league, played at the St. Xavier’s ground, Parel on Wednesday evening.

Leading West Zone’s charge was striker Faizan Shaikh who fired in four goals and Zaid Meeran with three strikes. Ashis Shaikh and Mobin Mukhadam scored the other two goals to complete the demolition.Earlier, in a Third Division play-off encounter, Indian Cultural League (ICL) ‘B’ recorded a hard-fought 2-1 win against Malwani FC. Keegan Fernandes and Praneet Nair struck a goal each for ICL,while Vernon Pereira was on target for the Malwani outfit.

In another match, Black Panthers got the better of Los Galaticos 4-2 via the penalty shootout after the teams failed to find the net during regulation period.

Results : at St. Xavier’s ground, Parel – Div-III (play-off): ICL ‘B’ 2 (Keegan Fernandes, Praneet Nair) beat Malwani FC 1 (Vernon Pereira); Black Panther 4 (Rajendra Naidu, Mangesh Salunke, Deepak Wad, Sameer Shaikh) beat Los Galaticos 2 (Nikhil Shetty, S. Mascarenhas).

Div-I: West Zone United 9 (Faizan Shaikh 4, Zaid Meeran 3, Ashis Shaikh, Mobin Mukhadam) beat Theresians Vidya Vikasani 0.
