Indian fans present at Edgbaston, Birmingham vociferously cheered Rishabh Pant during his blistering century against England on Day One of the 5th Test against England on Friday, June 2.
Fan crooned a special song for the centurion and also praised him for his reliability on and off the field.
“I just don’t think you understand. He’ll hit you for a six. He’ll babysit your kids. We’ve got Rishabh Pant. We’ve got Pant. Rishabh Pant,” sang the crowd, recalling the banter when former Australian skipper Tim Paine tried to sledge Pant, asking the wicketkeeper-bastman if he could babysit for him during the 2020-21 India’s tour of Australia.
Pant produced a phenomenal innings of 146 runs off just 111 balls to rescue India from a very difficult position on the opening day of the Test. His partnership with Ravindra Jadeja (83 not out) started with India struggling at 98/5, eventually helping the team past the 300-run mark with a magnificent 222-run stand for the sixth wicket.
