Mumbai : Vijeswari Yadav’s lone strike helped Carmel of St. Joseph High School, Malad score a close 1-0 win against St. Elias High School, Khar to emerge champions in the girl’s competition of the 13th Late Major Dhyan Chand Inter-School Hockey Tournament 2015, organised by the MHAL (Mumbai Hockey Association Limited) and played at the MHAL-Mahindra Stadium.
In a keenly contested final, Vijeswari scored the all-important winning in the 15th minute of the match.
Maharashtra Military School, Muradabad defeated Our Lady of Dolours, Marine Line 5-4 via the tie-breaker after the match finished in an exciting 2-2 draw. Jaisingh Brijwal and A.
Gudrel were on target for the military schoolboys while Arjun Gupta and Tikaram Thakulia scored for Dolours in regulation period before the Muradabad lads prevailed 3-2 in the penalty shootout.
The champions, Carmel of St. Joseph and Maharashtra Military School were presented with the a winners’ trophy and a cash award of Rs 11,000 each while both the runners-up teams received a cash prize of Rs 7,500 each. A total of 16 teams, 8 boys and 8 girls teams participated in this tournament.

Boy’s: Maharashtra Military School 5 beat Our Lady of Dolours 4 via the tie-breaker. Full-time 2-2.
