Vidarbha, K’taka men, Orissa women impress

Mumbai : Vidarbha and Karnataka men fashioned impressive back-to-back wins, in the National Inclusion Cup Championship for underprivileged children, a CSR initiative of Sony Pictures Network India, organised by Slum Soccer, at the Andheri Sports Complex on Tuesday.

Vidarbha romped to big wins while beating Andhra Pradesh 4-1 and Nepal 7- 3 to make amends for the 2-6 loss against Jharkhand in their opener. Ashwadip was the star of Vidarbha’s wins scoring 2 goals against AP and six against Nepal.

Karnataka registered contrasting wins while crushing Rajasthan 18-0 and labouring to a thrilling 4-3 win over a determined Chhattisgarh for three straight wins in Group C.

Among the women, Orissa beat Madhya Pradesh 5-4 via the sudden-death in an exciting Group A tie after the teams were locked 4-4 at full time. In the same group, Himachal Pradesh overcame MP 6-5 and Delhi beat Mumbai 2-1, both via the sudden-death, in thrilling encounters.

Vidarbha’s women also recorded an exciting 5-4 win over Chhattisgarh where Achal scored three goals for the winners and Isha and Prachi added to the tally.
