Mumbai : Celebrated archer Deepika Kumari and discus thrower Krishna Poonia will be the event ambassadors for the 5th edition of the National level Vasai Virar Mayor’s Marathon, the country’s richest event for Indian athletes and amateur runners, which will be held on Sunday, November 22.

This was announced at a press conference by Pravina Thakur, the first lady Mayor of the Corporation on Thursday. Also present as special guests on Race Day will be former India cricket captain Dilip Vengsarkar, Marathi cine stars Swapnil Joshi and Mukta Barve ofMumbai Pune Mumbai fame and child actor Siddharth Nigam, who is currently essaying the role of Junior Ashoka on television, among others.

This annual event, will witness in excess of 15,000 runners experiencing the joy of running, with the best possible facilities provided on course to enhance that experience.Western Railway is also supporting the event by way of releasing a special Marathon train from Churchgate, at 3.00 am, which will run slow up to Virar, reaching at 4.55 am.
