Mumbai : Union Bank of India (UBI) opened their campaign in the local hockey season with a 3-0 victory over Maharashtra State Police (MSP) in in a Super Division match of the PMC Bank-MHAL League – 2014 , on Wednesday.

Playing their first matches under the overcast conditions, both teams started off in rather dull fashion to finish the opening half without any goals.

On switching ends, however, Union Bank’s Rajat Sharma drew first blood after he managed to beat rival goalkeeper Kishor Dhaigude with what looked like an intended pass that managed to slip past the MS Police custodian in the 46th minute.

The younger and better organized Union Bank doubled their score off Moses Pullanthara’s deflection in the 55th minute. The assist came from Nitin Kumar who’s cross from the right was first timed smartly into goal.
