Mumbai: Piramal Polo’s Dhruvpal Godara turned out to a wrecker-in-chief for Sterhagen Polo as he accounted for six of the seven goals, as the former went on to win by 1.5 goals in the Sterhagen Polo Cup played at ARC Grounds in Mahalaxmi here on Thursday. With an 1.5 goals advantage Piramal Polo went on to script a 8.5 -8 goals win and book their place in the final, which is slated to be held on Saturday.
With the goal advantage already in their kitty, Piramal, they were 1-0 up when Godara opened the scoring for them. But Abhimanyu Pathak of Sterhagen nullified with two goals, but Piramal were still ahead by half a point at the end of the first chukker. It was a battle between Godara and Pathak as they spearheaded the attack of the teams. And with a goal apiece the Piramal maintained a slender lead half way through the encounter.
Godara was in the pick of action and his two goals taking his tally to four. However Sterhagen were no no mood to concede with Abhimanyu and Siddhanth striking in pairs again to score a goal each, but they were unfortunate not to level the scores at the end of the third chukker. Goals were galore in the final as six goals were scored in seven minutes. While Godara dominated scoring two goals to take his tally to six, Harsh Piramal also stepped up with a valuable goal .
