Mumbai: Springfield Rizvi are in for a big show down as they have crossed the first hurdle of first innings lead, on the opening day of the two-day Giles Shield Inter-school cricket, at the Matunga Gymkhana ground here on Thursday. When the stumps were draw, Rizvi were sitting pretty on 93 for three after bundling out their rivals Anjuman Islam English for 81, with Ravi Gupta claiming a hattrick in his spell of 3 for 22.
This inspite of the fact Rizvi were without their main players in their rank as they are assigned with the MCA assignment for the under-14 tournaments. We are without our main three players, Obse Shaikh (wicket-keeper/batsman), Adesh Khan (batsman) and Mohit Khanwar (batsman) thanks to our good bowling we were managed to restrict them,” said Rizvi coach Raju Phatak. In the other semifinal, Shubham Shinde fought a lone battle for VN Sule Guriji as they managed to post 190 in their first essay against Al Barkaat. And at the end of day’s play Al Barkaat were 37 with all their wickets intact.
