Mumbai: Indian Oil wasted chances galore and faced quite a strong challenge from a spirited South Central Railway (SCR). They, however, managed to score two late goals to scrape to a 5-3 win against their southern rivals in a Group-B round-robin league match of the 10th PMC Bank-Guru Tegh Bahadur Gold Cup All India Hockey Tournament, at the MHAL stadium, Churchgate on Tuesday evening.

Indian Oil enjoyed total dominance and the better of exchanges throughout the match. But poor finishing by the forwards and in particular Prabhjot Singh, who wasted quite a number of easy opportunities, they struggled to complete the margin of victory. SCR custodian Sushant Tirkey was outstanding under the bar and made some brilliant saves to frustrate the Indian Oil players and restrict the scoring.

For the oilmen, Roshan Minz, Didar Singh, Deepak Thakur, Prabhjot Singh and Vikash Sharma contributed a goal each, while SCR got their goals through Mayank James brace and one from B. Horo.
