Former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly has bought an adventure bike BMW G 310 GS which is priced at Rs 3.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Last, Yuvraj Singh bought a BMW G 310 R bike worth Rs 2.99 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), making him the first celebrity to buy a BMW G 310 R motorcycle in India.
The bikes have been developed in collaboration with TVS Motor Company and the first Make-in-India BMW motorcycles as both the motorcycles have been developed in the TVS plant at Hosur, Tamil Nadu. Dada — as Sourav Ganguly is fondly called — is no stranger to bikes. He once featured in a Hero Honda commercial alongside actor Hrithik Roshan.
Both BMW G 310 GS and BMW G 310 R get a 313 cc, water-cooled, four-stroke single-cylinder engine with rocker arms, four valves per cylinder, double overhead camshafts and wet sump lubrication, producing 34 bhp of power and 28 Nm of torque. The motor is mated to a six-speed gearbox. The BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS have been receiving a decent response from the customers in India and the company had announced a few days back that the BMW G 310 twins are now among the top five motorcycles sold by the brand globally.
