Mumbai: Lanky Siddhi Kolekar, of Dahisar’s Poorna Prajna School, mixing aggression with caution in good measure, downed Sanya Ferwani 11-8, 11-7, 11-6 to move into the junior girls singles semi-finals of the Poinsur Gymkhana All- Mumbai Promotional table tennis tournament, held at their premises here on Friday.

Siddhi was a bit tentative in the beginning, but once got into her rhythm, she controlled the pace and played some fine forehands top spinners to make her opponent chase the ball all over before she triumphed.Shrinath Markad, however, had to fight all the way before he could subdue Raquib Merchant 6-11, 10-12, 11-6, 12-10, 11-7 to enter the sub-junior boys singles semi-finals. However, top seeded Jash Mehta made heavy weather before he got the better of Vyom Parekh11-8, 11-7, 12-10 .

Jr girls singles (Quarterfinals): Tanvika Thakur bt Sheefa Shaikh 11-7. 11-6, 11-8; Siddhi Kolekar bt Sanya Ferwani 11-8, 11-7, 11-6.

Sub-jr girls singles (Quarterfinals): Chesta Shetty bt Vidhi Shah 11-4, 11-3, 11-5; Akshata Shinde bt Sapada Bhiwandkar 6-11, 12-10, 11-6, 13-11;  Tanvi Thakur bt Ovi Kadam 3-11, 11-7, 6-11, 15-13, 11-4.

Sub-jr boys singles (Quarterfinal): Hardik Panchal bt Rajveer Shah 11-6, 11-1, 11-9; Shrinath Markad bt Raquib Merchant 6-11, 10-12, 11-6, 12-10, 11-7; Jash Mehta bt Vyom Parekh 11-8, 11-7, 12-10; Shounak Pawar bt Swami Takekar 11-6, 11-3, 11-5.
