Mumbai :  Bombay Scottish ‘A’, Mahim showed great character and terrific fighting qualities as they recovered from an early deficit to turn the tables on defending champions Don Bosco ‘A’, Matunga snatching a close 2-1 victory in a tense semi-final match of the boy’s under-16 Div-I competition of the Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA) Inter-School Football Tournament – 2014, at the Cooperage ground, on Wednesday morning.

The Matunga schoolboys aiming to extend their reign in school football started off on a positive note by taking the lead through consistent striker Bryce Miranda.

But the Mahim lads put up a spirited display and quickly neutralised the lead when Parth Damani found the net to lift the gloom in the Scottish camp.

The second half was a hard-fought affair as both teams tried their best to score the crucial goal and just as the match seemed to be heading for a draw, Bhavya Jain struck a late goal to help Scottish clinch a thrilling victory and a place in Friday’s final.

In the second semi-final which was also exciting, St. Lawrence, Kandivali prevailed over St. Francis D’Assisi by an identical 2-1 margin. Ishan Rana and Krish Adhikari were bang on target for St. Lawrence, while D’Assisi pulled one back through Pratik Shah.
