Mumbai : Sandip Kumar from Sprinters Sports Club and Nashbik’s Secil Sara fromAshoka SA, Nashik, emerged the fastest sprinters on the second day of the 40th Bombay YMCA State Level athletic championships, held at Sports Authority of India here today. Sandip in a thrilling finish, pipped Leon Poorekhosandi at the post by clocking 11.0 secs. While the Nashik girl eualised the 1998 mark 0f Rupali Chauhai’s timing of 12.3 secs.
Ironically, it were the girls, who rewrote some of the records in this meet. Shrushi Shetty, of Children’s Academy SC and Shanaya Irani, of Track Trotters also eclipsed the girls under-12 long jump record of of 4.55 mts set by Nic0le Franco’s last year. While Aiswarya Mishra, who clinched gold in the400m gold on the opening day, added the 800m gold in her kitty.
