Mumbai: Hard-working and roving striker Francisco Salin was instrumental in leading Mumbai Customs to a well-deserved 1-0 win against a spirited Union Bank of India in an evenly contested Elite Division match of the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) League. The nippy forward netted the lone goal in the very seventh minute.
Customs and Union Bank adopted a positive approach and went on the offensive from the outset. But, just as the two teams, were settling down Customs from a snap move snatched an early lead. The goal came about when Salin’s strike partner upfront, Kevin Patrick, provided a measured pass from the right. Salin timed his run well to meet the aerial ball and head home past Union Bank goalkeeper Asif Ansari in the seventh minute.
Thereafter Customs did well as they put up a dogged defence to hang on to their lead and emerge victors.
Later, Kenkre FC rallied to hold Maharashtra State Police to a 2-2 draw.In a Super Division match, Pritviraj Shetty scored a hat-trick to power State Bank of India to a 3-1 win against Soccer XI.

Super Div: Bombay Muslim 1 (Verebder Jahdav) drew with Fr. Agnel 1 (Dhanraj G); St. Sebastian 3 (Mukesh Singh, Sameer Kagdi, Troy Nunes) beat Kenkre FC Under-19 0; State Bank of India 3 (Pritviraj Shetty 3) beat Soccer XI 1 (Slade Stanley).
