But not only on-field, but the players are also managing to make headlines off-field as well. Recently, a video of 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer grabbed everyone’s attention. In the video, a security guard stopped the Champion from entering the locker room as he didn’t have his ID card. Fans from across the world hailed the security guard’s gesture. In the fans’ Sachin wasn’t left behind. Sachin who is self-claimed Federer fan reacted to this sweet gesture by Federer and the security guard.
Sachin on his Twitter said, “Good to watch the security officer doing his job well at the @AustralianOpen. The manner in which @rogerfederer reacted was commendable as well. Such actions are not common today and they just increase the respect people have for great athletes like Roger.”
Few days back, Australian Open shared a viral video of Federer and wrote, ‘Even @rogerfederer needs his accreditation �#AusOpen.’
Talking about the tournament, Federer was knocked out of the title contention by young Greek Stefanos Tsisipas in the 4th round much to everyone’s shock. Further, Roger confirmed playing in this year’s Roland Garros (French Open), first time since 2015.
