Mumbai: South Mumbai FC edged out Seven Star Digital 2-1 in the III Division match of the Rustomjee-MDFA League, at the St. Xavier’s ground, Parel on Sunday.
In an evenly contested encounter, South Mumbai grabbed the initiative by taking a ninth minute lead when striker Mohd. Ali Sayed was bang on target and went into the break with a 1-0 half-time lead.
Seven Star fought on gamely and midway through the second session managed to score the eqlualiser through Karthik Chauhan’’s strike in the 40th minute of the 50-minute match.
South Mumbai scored the crucial winner in the final minute through Abedali Chitawala to snatch a close win and take the full three points.
Later in the day, Azlan Bhamia scored deep into stoppage time to help South Mumbai United (SMU) FC force an honourable 1-1 draw with Life Care Foundation in another keenly contested match. Life Care took the lead through Zubair Shaikh. South Mumbai United found the equaliser through Azlan Bhamia .
