Skipper Rohit Sharma’s quickfire half-century and useful contributions from Shikhar Dhawan (30) and Rishabh Pant (40*) saw India outplay New Zealand by seven wickets in the second Twenty20 International match at Auckland on Friday. - Hitman Rohit Sharma became the highest run-getter in T20 internationals. Rohit have now reached 2288 runs in his T20 career, most by any other batsmen in the world. Before the match, Rohit was lying behind New Zealand Martin Guptill (2272) and Pakistan’s Shoaib Malik (2263 runs). But he surpassed both of them to become the first in the list.
- Rohit Sharma also completed a century of sixes after reaching 102 sixes after the match. At 102, he is only behind Chris Gayle’s and Martin Guptill, who have smashed 103 sixes each in T20 internationals.
- Rohit also records for most number of T20I wins as skipper after 14 matches. Rohit has won 12 matches out of 14 T20Is, a record jointly shared with Australia’s Michael Clarke and Pakistan’s Sarfraz Ahmed. Shoaib Malik is next with 11 wins while G Smith and M Jayawardene has 10 wins each.
- Krunal Pandya became the first Indian cricketer to bag more than 2 wickets on New Zealand’s soil in a single T20 match. Pandya took 3 wickets while giving away 28 runs in his four overs spell.
