Mumbai : The pro-league junior chess champions of the city, Rishab Shah and Ananya Gupta of SMCA emerged victorious in the prestigious Maharashtra Government’s Directorate of Sports and Youth Services (DSYS) Under-14 Mumbai division chess selections 2015 concluded recently at Thane.
Rishab and Ananya both scored an impressive 6.5 points out of possible 7 games to top the tables amongst boys and girls category respectively, both these champions along with 8 other players will now represent Mumbai division in the Maharashtra U-14 state chess championships which will be held later this month in Dhule.
The 12 year old Rishab Shah (EL0 1684) of Cathedral School is a reigning MSSA inter-schools chess champion and he also has a distinction of being the first Indian to win the Singapore open National champion while Ananya Gupta (ELO 1489) of DY Patil School is a former world schools bronze medallist and a consistent performer who delivers an year round performance.
