Mumbai : Bombay Republicans put up a solid determined display to score a hard-fought 8-7 win against a resilient BEG, Pune in a thrilling men’s pre-quarter-final match of the Bandra Gymkhana Open Rink Hockey Tournament.
For Republicans, Swapnil Shinde struck three goals, while Suraj and Mehul chipped in with a brace each and Sanket scoring one. The Pune side who fought gamely were well-served by Sanjay Topno and Sadiq, both firing home three goals each and Ajay netting one.
Vinod Singh and Vijay Alphonso netted a brace each and Enrico Piperno one for Wenden.
