Mumbai : Lanky Rayna Saldanha swept through two golds with record-breaking efforts while Otters’ Ishaan Mehra continued his superb run in the boys under-17 section of the GMAAA Aquatic championships, held at Tata Swimming pool here today. The Goenka Education Trust’s lass won the 400m individual medley in 05:23.10 secs, thus eclipsing Otter’s Aakanksha Vora’2 2012 timing of 05:29.44 secs. Later she bagged the 1500m freestyle (22:19:14.11 secs) gold as well with yet another new record. Earlier, Raayna had won the 400m freestyle gold on the opening day.
Otters’ Ishaan, however,triumphed in 200m butterfly, 200m freestyle and 400m freerstyle – all in record timings. However, Khar Gymkhana’s Neel Roy could add just one more to his opening day brace as bagged the 200m individual medley in boys –II section. Meanwhile in the girls section saw Matunga Gymkhana’s Palak Dhami, who dominated the opening day in girls – IV section, continued to be in limelight, by adding two more records to her kitty. Surprisingly, girls –I saw Monique Gandhi took gold without much ado and in the process created a new mark in the 50m breaststroke with a new timing of 00:37.31 secs.
