Mumbai: Randeep Hooda turned out to be a hero not just on the big screen but in real life as he went on to win two medals on the third day of the National Equestrian Championship, organised by the Amateur Riders Club, at Mahalaxmi Racecourse on Wednesday.

After winning the gold in the Open Jumping normal in the morning along with his team ARC, added the silver lining to his campaign astride Dream Girl, in the championship which has come to Mumbai after two decades claiming the second place in the National Equestrian Championship Novice Jumping Normal (1.00-1.10m) teams donning the colours of RVC C&C Meerut wlong side Capt V Dahiya (Rider Pride), Ald K Nikesh (Ramzes Pearl), and Ankush Kumar (Gaurav).

The Grade III round A and B saw over 13 riders taking part in this tournament. Asian Games riders Yashaan Zubin Khambatta, Kaevaan Kevic Setalvad, and Zahan Kevic Setalvad participated along with SWR Praveen Kumar, Sunil Kumar, Ali Lakdawalla, Ashish Limaye and Basavaraju S.

With a total penalty count of 9, Rider Ashish Limaye was crowned the first place and rider Basavaraju S was awarded 2nd place for National Equestrian Championship Grade III. Maharashtra Horse Show Grade III was won by Rider Zahan Kevic Setalvad with zero penalty count, Rider SWR Praveen Kumar with 4 penalties and Ashish Limaye with 9 penalties were held at 2nd and 3rd place respectively.
