Karnataka showed an awesome performance in the finals of Mushtaq Ali Trophy after defeating Maharashtra, but a yet more awesome show was seen by two fielders of the latter team in semi-final match. In the semi-final match against Railways, Maharashtra players Rahul Tripathi and Divyang Himganekar took a spectacular relay catch to dismiss Manjeet Singh.
On the final ball of T20 match, Railways needed 22 runs to win. With no chances to win the match, Manjeet sought to end match with a maximum. Manjeet pulled a big flight shot to long-on off Vishal Gite’s ball. It seemed like the ball will for sure cross the boundary but a sensational fielding effort turned the thought-to-be six into a wicket.
Maharashtra skipper Tripathi made a brilliant effort and jumped at the boundary line to collect ball in his hand, and threw the ball inside which was caught by Himganekar at the right moment. Both combined to take a great relay catch, dismissing Manjeet. Have a look at the video.

With the wicket, Maharashtra also won the match by 21 runs, as they posted 177/5 in 20 overs earlier. Maharashtra made it to finals where they lost to Karnataka by 8 wickets. Karnataka opener Mayank Agarwal smashed an unbeaten 85 off 57 balls as Karnataka dished out a clinical all-round performance to beat Maharashtra and lift the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Karnataka bowlers, led by experienced Abhimanyu Mithun (2-24), put up a spirited show to restrict Maharashtra to 155/4 despite an unbeaten 69 by all-rounder Naushad Shaikh. Karnataka chased the target with nine balls to spare and ended their otherwise ordinary season on a high.
