Johannesburg : World number one Andy Murray capped off his stellar season by being named ITF World Champion for 2016, with brother Jamie winning the doubles award along with partner Bruno Soares.
It was for the first time that the two brothers have picked men’s singles and doubles World Champions award in the same year.
Asserting that it means a lot to be named ITF World Champion, Murray said that it is particularly special this time around as he is being named along with his brother Jamie.
“It means a lot to me to be named ITF World Champion. I have had such a memorable year, winning again at Wimbledon, retaining my Olympic title, and clinching the year-end No. 1 ranking in the last match of the season,” Sport24 quoted Murray as saying.
Last month, Murray dethroned Serbia’s Novak Djokovic to earn his first title at the ATP World Tour finals.
