Mumbai : Mumbai Customs carved out a 2-1 win against PIFA Colaba in an Elite Division match of the MDFA League – 2014-15. The Customs outfit scored twice inside the opening 10 minutes through Sagar Bedekar and Praneel Mendon while the Colaba outfit pulled one back through a penalty converted by Raunak Killinger in the 78th minute.
This was Customs’ third win from four matches, and they now have 10 points in their kitty, while this was the first outing for PIFA Colaba. Customs rocked the PIFA citadel in the very fifth minute.
That goal unnerved Swamy as three minutes later he conceded a soft goal which helped Customs open up a 2-0 lead. Following an innocuous long chip from Mendon the goalkeeper completely misjudged the flight of the ball and could only helplessly watch it dip over his outstretched hands and nestle into the corner of the net.
PIFA showed the courage to put up a fight and earned a penalty in the 77th minute when Mendon fouled a rival attacker inside the penalty box. Killinger made no mistake in beating Customs’ goalkeeper Lyhas Koya to give his team a bit of a chance to try and look for another goal to salvage a draw. But all their efforts proved futile.
