Prithvi Shaw is looking to revive his cricket career as reports have emerged that he is seeking a 'No Objection Certificate' (NOC) from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and another state as ‘professional’. According to an Indian Express report, a source close to the development has said, “He has sought NoC from us and we will take decision on it soon,”. It is learnt that Shaw had received offers from two-three states earlier this month.

Shaw was dropped by the Mumbai senior selection committee last year from a Ranji Trophy game due to poor fitness and was prescribed a two-week fitness programme prepared by the MCA trainers. The team management had informed MCA that Prithvi Shaw’s body contains 35 percent fat and that he needs rigorous training before he gets back into the side.

Why is Prithvi Shaew Leaving Mumbai?

According to Cricbuzz Shaw in his letter to the MCA wrote, "Please be assured that this decision has been made after careful consideration, and with utmost respect for the MCA. I remain ever grateful to the association for the guidance and platform provided over the years,"

Shaw's cricketing journey so far

Shaw hasn’t played List A in India since the 2022 Vijay Hazare tournament; he turned out for the One Day Cup in England for Northamptonshire county. His last five innings there were 97, 72, 9, 23, 17. The last time he played for Mumbai, Shaw in his five innings had scored 32, 54, 39, 51, and 10.

Shaw scored a century on debut in 2018 as a teenager. However, he has since failed to live up to his early promise and lost his place in Team India as well. The opener has featured in only five Tests, six ODIs, and one T20 International for India before losing his way in 2021. Shaw was unable to find any buyers during IPL auction as well due to poor form and fitness.
