Mumbai : After 28 long years, Campion School, Cooperage emerged Mumbai Schools’ football champions. The Campion ‘A’ team lads showed calm, steady nerves to overcome fancied and former champions Don Bosco ‘A’, Matunga 4-3 via the penalty shootout in the boy’s under-16 Div-I final of the MSSA Inter-schools football tournament played at the Cooperage ground on Tuesday. The match finished in a goalless draw.
In the crucial tie-breaker, Campion successfully converted through Malav Fozdar, Joshua Machado, Sanay Doshi and Jay Maliye, while Don Bosco only managed to convert three of their five attempts through Flynn D’Cruz, Clivert Miller and Fabian Anthony.
Earlier, in the Div-II finals, Hansraj Moraji Public School, Andheri got the better of Don Bosco, Borivali by a close 2-1 margin to emerge victorious. Striker Kamran Siddique struck both the goals for the champs, while Ethan Rozario netted the lone goal for the Borivali schoolboys.
