London: Legendary England footballer Alan Shearer said that he hopes compatriot Wayne Rooney doesn’t surpass his all-time Premier League record of scoring 260 goals despite being a huge fan of his play.

Rooney is expected to become England’s top scorer as he just needs to net three more goals to surpass Sir Bobby Charlton’s 49-goal record.

Shearer said that Rooney would definitely break the England record but hopes that United star player wouldn’t pass his record, adding that he enjoys his own record, the Daily Star reported.

Rooney has scored 181 goals as of now and is only behind Shearer (260) and Andy Cole (187) to become the leading goal-scorer in the history of Premier League.

Former Newcastle footballer believes that Rooney has the ability and chance to surpass the record if he stays fit.
