Mumbai : Karnatak Sporting Association (KSA) showed great character and dished out an outstanding second half performance as they came from behind to down Central Railway 4-1 in an Elite Division match of the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) League – 2014-15 and played at the Cooperage ground on Monday morning.
The railwaymen took off on the right track to take a first half lead through Krishna Naidu’s strike in the 10th minute. However, the Karnatak outfit put up a strong fight back in the second period scoring four goals during this period to secure a creditable victory against the spirited Central Railway side, who fizzled out in the later stages of the match.
Nigerian striker and consistent goal scorer Arhi Uchenna lead KSA’s recovery by netting the equaliser in the 53rd minute before Valentine Pereira added the second four minutes later to put KSA in the lead. Later Roger Sam (71st minute) and Arif Khan in the 5th minute of additional period, chipped in with the other two goals to complete the winning tally and help their team pocket all the three points.
Results – Elite Division: Karnatak Sporting Association 4 (Arhi Uchenna 53rd, Valentine Pereira 57th, Roger Sam 71st, Arif Khan 90+5th) beat Central Railway 1 (Ajinkya Nalawade 10th).
