Mumbai :  Joshua Vessaokar, a versatile player, notched up a fine hat-trick in Chimbai FC’s facile 3-0 win against Bandra FC in a Premier Division match of the 11th BWFA Football league 2014, conducted by Bandra West Football Association. The win ensured Chimbai’s qualification to the last sixteen playoffs.

Millwall FC, also booked a berth in the playoffs with a convincing 5-0 victory over Somlands SC. Striker Sumit Ravindran hit the target twice in the first half before teammates Roy Lewis, Zeeshan Sheikh and Rakesh Tulsiram added one each in the second half to complete the win.

Meanwhile, in a seven-goal thriller, Young XI prevailed over Friends FC by a 5-2 margin. The hero for Young XI was Akshay Jadhav, who netted two goals and was well supported by Vikram Gupta, Sagar Vaghela and Rohit Varma all scoring one each. For Friends FC the goals were scored by (Nicholas Fernandes and Brian D,Souza.

Earlier in a First Division match, Jolly Boys FC riding on Jay Thakur’s twin strikes got the better of a determined Somlands Juniors 1-0.Ashley Fernandes struck the lone goal for the losing side.

The Women’s competition of the BWFA league will commence from Sunday.
