Mumbai: It was a case of mixed fortune for the teams in the Jesuit Cup inter-school football tournament, while Campion School, Cooperage Road made good use of their home turf to lift the under-8 title, their seniors (U-10) lost to St Stanislaus, Bandra in the championship, at the Back Garden ground, Colaba here on Wednesday. Their under-8 outfits defeated St Stanislaus, Bandra 3-0 to emerge champions, with Yusuf Pardiwala netting all the goals for the winners.
The budding Yusuf Pardiwala exhibited excellent skills and superb finishing touch to register a fine hat-trick. And rightly was adjudged as the best player of the tournament, while the organising committee named Samuel Tennyson (Campion) as the ‘Best goalkeeper of the tournament. In the under-10, St. Stanislaus, Bandra earned a hard fought win over Campion School 3-2 via the penalty shootout tie-breaker. as the teams failed to break the dead lock in the regular time.
Harsh Goenka of Campion School was judged as the ‘Best player of the tournament’, while the ‘Best goalkeeper of the tournament’ award went to Gordon Kamble of St. Stanislaus School, in the championship which saw eight Jesuit-run schools taking part in the tournament.
