Mumbai: Seasoned cueist Mahesh Jagdale kicked off the competition with the highest break of 90 to lead Elphinstone Cricket Club ‘Bappachibum’ to home and away wins with a bonus point, in the opening week of the BSAM World Zoroastrian Organisation Trust Mumbai Snooker League 2013.
Jagdale, a former junior India No. 3 in snooker and current senior state billiards champion, fired the spectacular 90 break in his team’s emphatic 3-0 home win against Dadar Parsee Colony Gymkhana ‘Roaring Tigers’ and added an unfinished 47 break in the away tie which ‘Bappachibum’ won 3-1 to earn five points from their opening Group C matches. In Group A, another seasoned cueist Marzdi Kalyaniwala fired a break of 78 to lead Bombay Gymkhana ‘Wizards’ to a 3-1 home win over Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana ‘Achievers’ that earned the winners two points. Defending champions CCI ‘Snooker Kings’ endured an early shock when they lost their away tie 1-3 to Borivali’s Mandpeshwar Civic Federation ‘Tough Men’ in Group J, after winning their home tie 3-0.
