Franchises of Indian Premier League (IPL) are getting ready for the next edition of IPL. From now itself, many players from prominent teams have been released. The IPL auction is slated to take place next month, and IPL team owners have started the steps of releasing players from their present squad.
Till now, Mitchell Starc has been confirmed to be released from Kolkata Knight Riders, as per information shared by the Australian pacer himself to the media. Moreover, CSK has also released three players till now — Mark Wood, uncapped players Kshitiz Sharma and Kanishk Seth. With the news of these developments, names of many more players are coming forward who are likely to be released from their IPL franchises.
Below are the players who could be released by their franchises.
Report by leading daily Mumbai Mirror is making rounds that Gautam Gambhir is likely to be released by the Delhi Daredevils this time. He was bought for Rs. 2.80 crore in the last edition of IPL, but he quit as captain after Delhi Daredevil’s series of defeats in the start itself.
Moreover, Glenn Maxwell, Chris Morris, and Jason Roy are also likely to be released from the team. Glenn Maxwell was bought for Rs 9 crore while Chris Morris was retained for Rs 1 crore. Chris Morris had left the tournament in between.
Manish Pandey may be released from Sunrisers Hyderabad, owing to his poor performance in IPL 2018. The right-handed batsman could only score 284 in the tournament, and his poor strike rate forced the management to drop him later in the tournament. Karun Nair can also be out of the Kings XI Punjab team.
Further, Ben Stokes and Jaydev Unadkat are also likely to be released from the Rajasthan Royals team. Stokes and Unadkat were bought for Rs 12.5 crore and Rs 11.5 crore respectively. Stokes had left the team during the last few matches of IPL, to play the series against Pakistan.
