After the DRS controversy, on Wednesday he tried to safeguard his captain by saying that it was he on whose suggestion skipper Steve Smith tried to seek inputs from the dressing room. He also tried to be innocent by saying that he suggested this because he was unaware of the rules regarding DRS.

For a moment, let’s believe Peter Handscombe really did not know the rules. What about Steve Smith? He has been playing since a long time now to know the rules and he has even been a captain too. It makes us believe that he would be having proper knowledge of the rules and regulations. Rightly so, he tried to play down the whole episode by putting forward the ‘brain fade’ theory. But with Handscombe making those twits, former captain Steve Waugh suggesting ICC should step in Smiths’ attempt have backfired for sure.
Even Cricket Australia has issued a statement and tried to put all its weight behind captain Steve Smith. If Smith and company have not done anything wrong, what is the reason for this urgency?
