The Billiards & Snooker Association Maharashtra (BSAM) has been making great efforts to promote and encourage the development of the sport is keen that players from Maharashtra win the National titles. That’s the main purpose to hold the camp under the supervision of accomplished players and former champions Yasin Merchant (snooker) and Ashok Shandilya (billiards).

The state cueist were fortunate enough as they went through the grind under the watchful eyes of Yasin Merchant in snooker and Ashok Shandilya for billiards in a seven-day camp which was held for the first time for the national players. “It was a good experience for us and the players, and the commitments and dedication of the players was overwhelming, that shows the enthusiasm these players,” said Merchant about the camp which was held at the Hindu Gymkhana. “I am not working on their technique as it would confuse them. I decide on certain exercises, like match situations on different options when making a pot and getting into position for the next shot.” says Merchant about the concept of the camp. “The camp is very interesting and I appreciate the efforts of Yasin and BSAM. Such camps will encourage and helpful to the players, BSAM must organise more such camps on a regular basis,” said Sangeeta Hemchand.
