Ujjain: To conduct free and fair election is the responsibility of everyone. All the political parties, officers and employees should work with coordination for this. These views were expressed by collector BM Sharma at a meeting of district- level standing committee representatives of political parties. Sharma said that nomination procedure has been completed and the candidates and political parties have now started election campaigning.
Sharma appealed to all political parties to abide by the Model Code of Conduct. Sharma urged political parties that their electioneering should not disturb peace, law and order. They should refrain from making statement affecting individual’s life. Candidates should not seek votes in the name of caste, religion and community, he said.
The collector also asked election candidates not to use religious place for election publicity and they should not paste publicity material on public property. Candidates should not trouble the rallies of rival candidates.
They should also follow the time given for public meeting, Sharma said. The collector asked the local electronics media to seek permission of media certification and monitoring committee before broadcasting any advertisement.He also asked the candidates to get the account register inspected every three days.
District Election Office employees will distribute the voter slip door to door. Political parties can also do the same. The slip should not contain name and symbol of any candidate or party.
Sharma also threw lights on the permissions granted to candidates and they have to follow the norms of noise control act. A vehicle can carry only two loudspeakers.Candidates will be permitted to own three vehicles on the day of election and each vehicle will have only five members.For seeking permission, a candidate has to file an application before district returning officer.
Polling parties will be imparted training from November 16 at Swami Vivekanand Bhavan of Vikram University. Sector officers will be present during the training. According to ADM Avadhesh Sharma, training for Nagda- Khachrod constituency will be held at 10 am on November 16. Training for Tarana constituency will be held between 2 and 5 pm on the same day. Training for Mahidpur constituency will be held at 10 am on November 18 and for Barnagar constituency between 2 and 5 pm. For Ujjain South constituency, training will be held at 10 am on November 19 and for Ujjain North between 2 and 5 pm.
