Alibag (Maha) : Raigad anti-corruption bureau on Monday trapped a Deputy Tehsildar, who is a former sportsman, while allegedly taking a bribe.
Suhas Khamkar, who won the Mr India title nine times, was recruited by the government in the quota for sportpersons, is currently posted at Panvel in Raigad district.
According to a press release by ACB, he had demanded a bribe of Rs 1 lakh for mutation of land record entry (‘7/12 extract’) following a sale of land.
He was caught at his office red-handed today while accepting Rs 50,000 from the complainant, ACB said. Further probe is on.
A native of Kolhapur region, Suhas comes from a family of bodybuilders.
Khamkar drew inspiration from Arnold Schwarzenegger and become a world champion.
