Mumbai: The soft tone and his answers to all questions are the most interesting aspect of Mahesh Mangaonkar, one of the country’s best squash player in recent times. All that he and many of these players who swing the racket in the rectangular box with four vertical walls of varying height, is to make our country proud.

They have won many laurels for the country and for themselves, but still, they are to get the nod from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to be included as one of the Olympic sport. But, it has been the passion for the game which has been the driving force for them to take the sport ahead.

And the Mumbai’s our own Mangaonkar, who picked up the racket when he was just four, is a right prodigy of this game. And his second victory at the Swiss Title 2019, wherein he defeated Bernat Jaume of Spain 3-1, tells the passion he has for the game. It has been tough but impossible.

It has been a great deal of commitment and dedication in pursuing these sports. Nothing comes in easy, as pain is an understatement and labour is unending. But the sweet taste of victory and accomplishment is worth it all only if you truly know what it likes to win.

And a win against the legends would open a new chapter in any sports personnel, and that is what Mangaonkar is all about, as his victory against Kristan Frost of Denmark set a new bench march for this lad. And since then it has changed his way of approach to the sport.

After winning the Sekisui Open 2016 in Switzerland wherein he beat one of the legends of the game Kristan Frost from Denmark, he shifted his base to Belgium and later to Netherland he is in search of new avenues to explore the game.

Since then, Mangaonkar has taken squash as a profession and started playing Pro Games internationally, we have been keenly observing his schedule and his dedication to his performance, ” said his mother Anjali while talking to The Free Press Journal. Thanks to Technifiber and Azani who take care of him when it comes to materialistic things such as equipment and sporting gears.
