London : 17 Grand Slam titles holder Roger Federer moved to within one win of the pre-US Open hardcourt title on Saturday as he defeated Canada’s Milos Raonic in straight sets to reach the Cincinnati final.
Federer defeated Raonic 6-2, 6-3 to clinch an easy win in the semifinal against the Canadian. He will now face David Ferrer to battle for the Cincinnati Masters title.
Spanish tennis ace Ferrer advanced to the Cincinnati final with straight sets victory over France’s Julien Benneteau. The Spaniard won 6-3, 6-2 against Benneteau. London
Meanwhile, Former Wimbledon champion Andy Murray has been left frustrated by his inconsistency after losing to 17 Grand Slam titles holder Roger Federer in the Western and Southern Open quarterfinals in Cincinnati.
Murray, who will head to the US Open, which starts on 25 August, without a title since winning Wimbledon in 2013, recently squandered a double-break in the second set to lose 6-3, 7-5 to Federer.
