Mumbai :  Exhibiting tremendous fighting qualities, former international Leroy D’Sa (Sunfab Industries Pvt. Ltd.) and partner Sachin Bharati (BEST) gallantly fought back to script a 19-21, 21-13, 21-15 victory over Himanshu and Rajat Moitra  in a men’s doubles 90+ (combined age) match  in the Sunteck 4th Corporate Badminton Challenge 2014, jointly organised by the Maharashtra Badminton Association and Evolution Sport, and hosted by NSCI and played at their courts, in Worli.

In other action of the same competition, the third-seeded pair of Gautam Ashra (M.J. Foundation) and Mangirish Palekar had things very much under control as they went on to put it across the Maxx Consultancy Services combination of D. P. Sharma and V T Mathew 21-12, 21-15 to also advance to the quarter-finals.

Fourth seeds Sanjay Sharma (Smashing Success) and Upendra Fadnis (Godrej) also progressed to the last eight round defeating Niranjan Shahane (Selrack) and Sunil Karandikar 21-12, 21-6.

In a keenly contested encounter, Benhur Soloman (Central Excise) and Rajeev Ganpule (Yen Sports Co.Pvt.Ltd.) staved off a spirited challenge from Dilip Sukthankar (ONGC) and Mahesh Chhabria (L&T Finance) before pulling off a close 21-16, 19-21, 21-18 victory en route to the quarter-final stage.

Men’s doubles 90+: 3-Gautam Ashra (M.J. Foundation)/Mangirish Palekar beat DP Sharma (Maxx Consultancy Servives)/V T Mathew 21-12, 21-15.
