Mumbai : World ranker Jaival Shah bagged a double gold to steal the opening day’s honours, in the second TSA Open Speed Skating Championship, organized by The Skate Academy, at the Somaiya skating track, Chunabhatti.
Favourite Jaival lived up to his reputation by winning the 500m and 1000m Inline gold for boys 14 years and above, while beating back the challenge of Rohan Budhrani who won silver in both events.
It was all in the family when Jaival’s sister Khushi, a state and district champion and Hong Kong Open gold winner, won the 500m Inline gold with a stunning win over world ranker and arch-rival Anoushka Chandarana. Anoushka later avenged her defeat by winning the 1000m gold while Khushi settled for silver.
The other double gold winners were Khushagara Bhatia, Diya Jain, Laksh Lalwani, Arnav Tripathi, R. Suvarnika, Ritesh Rane and Jahnavi Rao.
